The location near Retiro park and proximity to Huertas' nightlife.
The windows overlooked the wall of another building and the walls are too thin - in the night you can hear tv, people coughing, talking on the phone, arriving with luggage etc. The shower is not adjustable. The payment was demanded upon arrival, even prior to showing the room.
It was very convenient. The staff are very helpful to you if you know Spanish. They kept my room clean. They were very trustworthy, also. In all, they have a nice place and they have good hearts.
With a hostel, you have to make sure that you get an alarm clock during the day if you want to wake up at a particular time the following day. Ata hotel, they can arrange to give you a wake up call at any time.
With the awareness that people might be interested in different places and an assumption that this hotel should be of interest mainly to those sightseeing, it has an excellent location , with all tourist attractions nearby. As a second advantage I would say that the rooms were more than accurately cleaned everyday.
Rooms and corridors has an out of date look (except for sheets). The bathroom is small, but enough, with separate hot and colds taps in a wahbasin (except for a bath tap - there a two taps in a bath). It is located on a 2nd floor so you enter a hotel through a public entrance, must take a lift to get in. There is no reception, but if it was, it would be not be helpful at all as the staff doesn't speak Engligh, even a simple word (we thought they speak at least 10 words after reading other reviews, but we were shocked hearing them speak only Spanish). The hotel is run by a older marriage. A woman is unkind and impolite (woke us up by hitting on the door)
Lively district, good location. 5 minute by foot from metro stop, 10-15 minutes go to Puerta del Sol and Airportbus stop. Actually it's like B&B, not real hotel. Very friendly, helpful owner, old wooden steps, classic lift, creates good atmosfere. Free W-fi works good.
I can't say i liked something.. It is a clean, very small hostel but very well located. The staff only speack in spanish and they're kind of rude but otherwise ok.
The fact that every night it was very noisy.
The bed and the pillows. Also, you can't enter with the car to the neighbourhood or you can get a fine. The person at the hostel told us that he called to say that we where going to the hostel to lift the fine.
great location, 5 min from railway station, 5min from old town; tea/coffee facilities in room
location: train tracks just few meters away from window. It didnt bother me much, although when train was passing everything in the room was shaking. Other then that great place to stay for short time!
Fantastic central location with a stylish building entrance, including a vintage passenger lift. Staff were excellent, as was the cleanliness.
It was a little bit noisy (other guests) at times.
The absolute fantastic bars and cafes and restaurants in the neighbourhood!
Very loud neighbours!!! 2 girls in the room next to us, at 1 at night and also already at6 in de morning. We once heard the man ask them to be quiet, but they didnt listen! The street was very quiet though!
the cleanliness and the location
the walls are thin and could hear the people in the room next door
You shoud expect to be woken up in the middle of the night when you leave the light on. Saving starts here :-) Besides that the location is superb and the hotel is OK for the money you pay.
Hostal Dulcinea i have to say it was very nice place and I gotta recommend to everyone.
The staff was very friendly and the hostal is located at a good position in Madrid. It was very easy to find a restaurant or going to Prado from there.
Unfortunatly it was impossible to regulate the heating which meant that we needed to open the window during the night, which lead quite some sound in. Also in the add wewere promised a 2 person bed and we got 2 1 person beds.
Room was clean and quit big. It was cleaned every day.
Rooms are to noisy. You can here noise from the corridor or other rooms. Staff doesn't speak English.
Staff is very friendly but they speak Spanish only.
Smell of food in the hall.
